The Day of Languages of the Peoples of Kazakhstan is observed on the third Sunday of September. It was established in 1998 by a Presidential Decree to celebrate all the languages spoken in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its date was chosen to commemorate the law “On Languages” which was adopted on September 22, 1989. This year the holiday is celebrated 23-rd anniversary.
As well there is a very interesting holiday –the European Day of languages.
This holiday aims to raise public awareness of the linguistic diversity existing in Europe, to promote studying of languages as well as multilingualism and intercultural understanding. The objective is to encourage lifelong discovering of languages, whether at school or outside. On this occasion, many activities are organized across Europe to celebrate the linguistic diversity of our continent. This year, the European Day of Languages celebrates its 20th anniversary.
International Relations Faculty has been widely celebrated this holiday for many years.
There are 7 foreign languages taught at our faculty; English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese. So there were 7 teams presented their languages and countries.
Students sang songs, danced, recited poetry, told interesting facts about culture and history of that countries. I’d like to point out students were in beautiful bright dresses. The most important thing is students’ being so happy to participate and celebrate this beautiful holiday.
