Robert Midhurst is 65, but he looks much younger. Last year he was in Europe and North Africa on a bicycle for more than six months. Last September the weather in Britain was very bad, so Robert got on his bicycle in London and went to Dover. At dover he  took a ferry. After three days he reached Paris, but in Paris the weather wasn’t better than in London. It rained all the time. Again he got on his bike and started the journey to Spain. Robert likes France a lot .He travelled slowly. The weather got better. The days were very sunny and warm. It was late October when he arrived in Spain. For five days he travelled slowly because there were strong winds, and it often rained. At the  beginning of  November the weather got better. The sun shone but the beaches were often empty. He left Spain at the beginning of December. In December he was in Africa. It was very hot there. The journey was very interesting. He came back to England by plane.

Exercise 3 p 84 Read the  text again and complete the chart.

Exercise 5 p 86 Read an interview with Robert  and Midhurst.Look at the below and put a tick(˅) or a cross(x).

Interviewer: Robert,you are not so youmg.Why did you go on the that journey?

Robert: For many reasons.I love Britain,I also love travelling.

Interviewer:about  Why don’t you travel around Britain?

Robert: I know Britain well.I love the countryside,but English food is boring.The hotels are very expensive and not very good.They’re much better in France.

Interviewer: So you don’t like much Britain.

Robert: Oh, I do.I love the people,they’re so friendly.The most  important thing for me is weather.

Interviewer: The weather?

 Robert: Yes I hate the weather.I like the British summer, but the summer, but the spring is very wet.

Interviewer: But the winter isn’t very cold.We don’t have much snow.

Robert: That’s right,but it rains a lot.I like the sun.So I certainly don’t like the British winter.
