The theme: London

Aims:

1. Educational: to get more information about London and to develop their grammar knowledge

2. Developing: to develop pupil’s speaking, thinking, listening and reading skills and abilities

3. Up-brining: to enlarge and to develop pupils creative and interest to learning English  

Form: travelling lesson

Type: mixed lesson

Method: question- answers, group work, individual works

Visual aids: Slides, placards, markers, an interactive board, pictures, cards.

The procedure of the lesson.

  1. Org moment.
    1. Greeting.  – Good day, students! Sit down, please! How are you?
    2. Duty’s report: - Who is on duty today? Who is absent? What date is it today? What day is it today? What is your home task?
  2. Checking up the home task: Revision

Choose these pieces of papers with the words. Students who takes the words: The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Whitehall will go to the group “London”.

Who takes the words Baiterek, Ak Orda, Khan-Shatyr, Duman, Atameken will go to the group “Astana”.

To the 3rd group “Capital” will go who takes the words: Independent, country, developed, government, capital.

There live over 8 million people. It is the capital of Great Britain. How do you think what country is it? __________

-         Today we will go to London. Do you want to go to London? Before it we must buy a plane ticket and fly to London.

Work with the text in group (each group has their captains and the others must read the texts on the wall and dictate it to their captains and he/she must write what he would heard)

So we arrived to London. And to travel we need a transport. It is a Double Decker buss. double-decker bus is a bus that has two storeys or decks. Red double-decker buses are used for mass transit in London. The buses are boarded from the front.

Now we came to the London Eye. You can see up to 25 miles in each direction with views over some of the world's most famous sights, including St Paul's, the Palace of Westminster and Windsor Castle. It was opened on December 31, 1999.

-         Buckingham Palace. This is the official London residence of the British monarch. In front of it stands a sculpture called the Victoria Memorial, a large statue of Queen Victoria.

Big Ben. One of the most famous landmarks of London. The name „Big Ben” does not refer to the whole clocktower, but to the thirteen-tonne bell that strikes the hour.

Tower Bridge. The Bridge, constructed in the 1890s, took its name from the nearby Tower of London. The road over the bridge can be raised to allow ships to pass through.
